Drum Description:

This is the 1st drum in my new H-series.

The drum shell is made up of five laminated wood layers. The Outside layer is made from Bolivian Rose wood. The inside four layers are made from kiln dried Douglas fir.

I added a laminated carrying handle made from the same Rose wood.

I got some beautiful mirror image grain patterns with the Rose wood by flip-flopping alternate laminates.

The steel anchor band and tuning hooks were electro-plated with polished brass.

The tuning nuts, Thread Caps, and hold-down band are solid brass.

I form every thing in my shop except the electro-plating.

I was surprised at the quality of the sound this new shape produced having a super rich bass, great open tones, slaps, and high ringing rim shots. The sounds are similar to an African Djembe' but much more. I intend to make a few more of these.
