Drum Description:

This is the 38th drum in my D-series.

The drum shell is made up of five laminated wood layers. The inside and outside layers are made from Alowood/Rose wood and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th layers are made from kiln dried Douglas fir. I was able to get some very striking mirror image patterns by flip-flopping the laminates.

Alowood is a plantation-raised pine that is pressure stained through the entire thickness of 1-inch boards.

The wood is wonderful to work with. The pressure staining causes the wood to machine, sand, and finish much like a softer hardwood.

The steel anchor band and tuning hooks were electro-plated with polished brass.

The tuning nuts, Thread Caps, and hold-down band are solid brass.

I form every thing in my shop except the electro-plating.

The sound qualities are super with a powerful bass, great tones, slaps and high ringing rim shots. This drum has an Ashiko drum sound but much more.
